skills include

Project management
With AbsyntheMuse.com, I specialized in running projects, including a jointly-written book project where writers collaboratively wrote proposals and edited each others’ chapters as a practical approach to teaching publishing. I also managed teams recruited to work on site projects.

Research
My master’s program at University College London was heavily focused on research, both in libraries and using online databases. I have presented research projects at conferences including BritGrad in June 2009 and the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum in May 2008, at both of which my papers were awarded prizes. Read a précis of my MA dissertation.

Attention to detail
As a copy editor for the Journal of Higher Education and Journal of Undergraduate Research at Ohio State, I was required to have a high level of attention to detail to be alert to possible factual errors, and also skill in proofreading with adherence to specific style guides, including AP, APA, MLA.

Computer and programs skills
In my past roles as a web designer, I became proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, HTML, CSS, PHP, W3C Accessibility Guidelines, Dreamweaver and Photoshop. Other programs I can use include Illustrator, Flash, and InDesign. I can type over 60 wpm.

recommendations

“Stefanie Peters is a remarkable young woman—smart as a whip, serious, astonishingly hard-working, insightful, and imaginative. As my undergraduate student at Ohio State, she was quite simply one of the best I’ve ever had. But she also surprised me by writing a paper about one of my books for another class, and when she (bashfully) showed it to me, I was flabbergasted: it was far and away the best thing anyone had written about it. By “best” I don’t mean “the most flattering” or even “best written” (though certainly Stefanie’s paper was among the most beautifully written analyses of my book that I had encountered). I mean that it was the most soundly reasoned, sophisticated, analytically complex, insightful, wise, and startlingly astute examinations of my book that I had—or have—ever seen. I would go so far as to say that Stefanie did what the very best critics can do for a creative writer: she taught me something about my own book—several things, in fact—and about myself as a writer that I had never thought about before.” Michelle Herman, Professor of English at The Ohio State University

“Stefanie is knowledgeable, driven and a pleasure to work with. She is easily one of the best interns I’ve seen at Nationwide Insurance (and I’ve seen a lot). If you are thinking of hiring Stefanie, don’t hesitate, because you may lose her and end up with someone who won’t be nearly as good.” Elisa Nicolas, Senior Coordinator Web Communications, Nationwide Insurance

“Stefanie is a woman of action. She successfully edited, wrote, managed a community of almost five thousand young writers online, and propelled Absynthe Muse to new heights, helping win awards and bringing more staff and adult supporters into the fold along the way. She has ceaseless amounts of energy but can also ask the hard questions that will help pin down realistic timetables for projects and their completion. Hannibal would have been able to cross the Alps on elephantback with Stefanie in charge.” Elisabeth Wilhelm, Editor-in-Chief, Absynthe Muse
